SECOND: We will be starting coding today. Go to code.org. Do ALL of Lesson 1. Find your name and login instructions here.

February 25, 2020

FIRST: State Research Activity < - Follow the teacher's instructions to download this worksheet in Microsoft Word. We will use KidRex to search for facts about the state of Florida.

Example of what a finished worksheet should look like (except yours will be real facts about Florida):

*** You cannot use Google or KidRex as a resource! Your resource has to be a website that is not a search engine.

*** Where it says to put your picture, just put a picture of something from Florida. It could be a gator or a picture you find of Gainesville, for example.

SECOND: Try out three typing games from this website

THIRD: You may play on sumdog, ABCya (fourth grade), or another approved website IF you finish the assignment and the typing games.

February 18, 2020

FIRST: We will talk about the internet scavenger hunt from last week. We'll go through some of the questions and see what everyone came up with.

SECOND: Think of a research topic. It can be the invention you researched two weeks ago or a new topic. We will make a mind map to help you organize your research ideas.

*** You will save your mind map as a PDF file to your flash drive.  To do this:

         1. Click on the Print button and click "Print."

         2. Where it says "Destination," choose "Save as PDF"

         3. Click "Save"

         4. Save it to your flash drive (the same way you would save a word document)

THIRD: Opinion Writing activity. We will follow the OREO method: Opinion, Reason, Examples, Opinion. This is a structure for argumentative writing.

Opinion Writing <-- Click here, then click "Download" at the top. The download will show up on the BOTTOM of your web browser. Click on it. It will open as a Word document.

Ideas for topics: the best afterschool snack, the best superhero, the best Pokemon.

Save your document to your flash drive.

February 10, 2020

First: Typing Club for 10 minutes.

Today, we will do an internet scavenger hunt.

These are your options:

Bugs

Facts about the Presidents

Outer Space

Do two of the scavenger hunts. Write your answers in a Microsoft Word document. Save the document to your flash drive!

In the next class, we will compare answers as a group. You will also use your answers from the scavenger hunts to help you on the test (March 3). Make sure you save them!

If you finish BOTH scavenger hunts, you can play Prodigy, Sumdog or ABCya fourth grade math. If there is another game/website you would like to play on, ask the teacher first.

Click here. This is where you will enter your answers. Make sure both your name and your partner's name are entered!

Use these websites to help you find the answers to the questions: NobelPrize.org, King Institute. You can also do a Google search to find additional websites, but make sure you type or write down the name of the website(s) you use.

**Tip: One partner can have the website(s) open while the other partner fills out the quiz answers.
